More >> WHAT IS THE NEW MARKET TAX CREDIT? With the national economy strengthening each day after a spell of trying times, communities are finding hope in the recent boost in holiday shopping, rising stock prices and even new incentives being offered by the federal government. There are several economic mechanisms in place that are designed to improve the economy. Although the New Market Tax Credit program has been offered since 2001, the economic stimulus plan passed last February authorized additional allocations of these credits. When the credits are issued, additional equity is generated that can be used toward community redevelopment projects in qualifying low income areas. Based on the census track, the government decides where to allocate the credits and the immediate income of the population living in the area is the key indicator for obtaining them. The prime goal with this initiative is to revitalize low income communities. GETTING FOLKS BACK TO WORK Workforce Escarosa, in partnership with the Agency for Workforce Innovation (AWI), Workforce Florida Inc. (WFI) and the Department of Children and Families (DCF), is administering a federal program that can help put people back to work in 2010. The program is called “Florida Back to Work” and is funded by the federal stimulus plan through the US Department of Health and Human Services. The program provides up to 95% reimbursement to cover the costs of employee wages and benefits. Employers will need to contribute the in-kind cost of employee supervision and training and a cash contribution to cover the remaining 5%. Funding for this program is available until September 30, 2010. WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST TEAM SANTA ROSA MEMBER
